USSD voting lets supporters cast paid votes using any mobile phone — even a basic phone with no data connection. All you need is a working SIM card and airtime or Mobile Money balance.
USSD voting is only available for paid voting events. Election-style (unpaid) events and free (hot) events cannot be voted on via USSD.
The entire process takes under two minutes and works on any network.
Every contestant in a paid voting event has a unique 4-letter short code displayed prominently on their profile card. It looks like "ABCD" and is printed in bold Monospace text. Short codes are also shared by organisers in event programmes, flyers, and social media posts.
I entered the short code and got "contestant not found" Double-check the 4 letters — short codes are case-insensitive but must match exactly. If the problem persists, contact the event organiser to confirm the correct code.
My payment went through but I did not get an SMS confirmation Allow up to 5 minutes. If you still have not received confirmation, your votes have most likely been counted — the SMS can occasionally be delayed by the network. You can verify your votes counted by checking the leaderboard on the event page.
The USSD session timed out USSD sessions expire after approximately 3 minutes of inactivity. Start again from step 1. Your previous attempt did not charge you unless you completed the payment confirmation step.
